June 01, 2006
today is june first
well it is. can anyone else believe i'm starting the 11th month? cause i sure can't.
so what's been happening lately? i, can't say that i remember everything, but a few notables:
last wednesday susie and i went out for 100yen (about a buck) sushi and ran into susie's student who was working there. and lo and behold, we got the hookup! no joke, first time ever in japan heh. i had 14 plates, he charged me 10, and she had 6, he charged her 3. simply, awesome.
i went to a japanaese wedding reception party on saturday the 27th where i found my self (for the second time) in a situation without any native english speakers. it was pretty cool for the most part, met three really nice japanese people who want to go bowling with me sometime soon (i need to email them). well the person's who wedding it was was sato sensei (i guess now, kato sensei, but old habits die hard eh?). and don't ask me how it ended up at this, but i found myself singing `with or without` you for them ;P
and it's REALLY weird when you have about 30 japanese people looking at you with this face: o.Oa.
afterwards, headed to watch `the davinci code` with brad and ryan where, in my honest opinion (no spoilers) wondered what some of those who haven't read the book felt. because it seemed that there were a lot of parts where if you didn't read the book, it would just seem incredibly disjoint. and did anyone else wonder why tom hanks is robert langdon?
i swear anybody could have fit the bill for that character.
i wasn't a big fan of it in the beginning, since mnost of it was brown's narration, and thus, hard to translate to the silver screen. but as the story picked up, i found myself enjoying it more and ian mckellan with the two lines that got me to laugh out loud - and as usual, brad, ryan, and me were the only 3 laughing heh.
mmm other thoughts...
i've started going to the gym again (only took 10 months XD) and it feels really good. i have yet to open the iPod nano i bought, and am contemplating getting shuffle for the gym and for running. anyone else think this is a bad idea?
also about coming home. i originally thought of coming home after the one year mark (7/31) to restock on some us supplies - gel, deodorant, toothpaste, etc. but find it less and less likely to make a trip back home. and if i did, it'd be only one time; in the summer or the winter for 1 week or so. to be honest though i'm thinking i won't be back home till august 2007 and might just run to taiwan for winter break or maybe thailand /shrug.
gotta take advantage of being halfway around the world right?
